Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.
Gah, have I been a loser with posting content on this blog in the past couple weeks! I’m usually so on top of things, but school has seriously taken a hold of my life. Reading has taken the backseat, but I’m hoping that I can find time to start posting more content and reading more books as soon as possible. 🙂
And… that brings me to this week’s WoW pick! 🙂
The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick
A bold, genre-bending epic that chronicles madness, obsession, and creation, from the Paleolithic era through the Witch Hunts and into the space-bound future.
Four linked stories boldly chronicle madness, obsession, and creation through the ages. Beginning with the cave-drawings of a young girl on the brink of creating the earliest form of writing, Sedgwick traverses history, plunging into the seventeenth century witch hunts and a 1920s insane asylum where a mad poet’s obsession with spirals seems to be about to unhinge the world of the doctor trying to save him. Sedgwick moves beyond the boundaries of historical fiction and into the future in the book’s final section, set upon a spaceship voyaging to settle another world for the first time. Merging Sedgwick’s gift for suspense with science- and historical-fiction, Ghosts of Heaven is a tale is worthy of intense obsession.
Will Be Available: January 6, 2015
I read The Foreshadowing by Marcus Sedgwick a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it! He has this memorable writing style that sticks in the mind and his story plots are so compelling. And, you know, I’m a fan of stories that “chronicle madness, obsession, and creation through the ages.” Netgalley already shot me down for this one, so I’m going to have to find another way to obtain it… or I might just wait *gasp* until January.
What books are on your WoW this week? I want to hear about them! Link up 🙂
I have yet to read one of Sedgwick’s books, but they always sound so compelling. Perhaps this will be the one I dive into. Really cool pick!
Here’s My WoW.
