Waiting on Wednesday #19

img-thing-pink2Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I’m not usually into Swoon Romance reads, but I just have to read one of these every once-in-a-while. They’re a nice bit of fluff and this one sounds interesting.

Three Key Words for This Week’s WoW: Crashes, Cheating, and Crushes (all those C’s!)

22139767Emmy has everything she’s ever wanted: a hot boyfriend she adores, great friends, a promising future, and even a well-connected family. But one night rips it all away.
A car accident shatters her world, claiming the lives of her twin brother and her best friend. In the wake of the accident, her friends drift away, her family falls apart, and her boyfriend cheats.
The grief is more than she can handle, so she finds escape at the bottom of a bottle of painkillers. Taking the pills makes her brother alive again, if only in her head. Seeing and talking to her brother as if he were still alive is the only thing that keeps her going. Until Logan King moves to town.
Logan sees past the mask of pristine popularity she wears in public and he’s the only one who can tell she hasn’t moved on. His uncanny ability to read her forces her to open up and she starts to fall for him, no matter how unwilling she is to admit it. But Emmy isn’t the only one keeping secrets and when a close brush with death sparks events that bring everything to light, Emmy will have to decide what’s more important: learning how to forgive and move on, or holding onto the pills and the ghost of her past.
Will Be Available: February 24, 2015

Emmy has everything she’s ever wanted: a hot boyfriend she adores, great friends, a promising future, and even a well-connected family. But one night rips it all away.

Typical privileged girl has a hot man, fantastic friends, and non-shady future… Oh, and let’s not forget the frightening foreshadowing last sentence in there.8KHwwZZ

A car accident shatters her world…

Ah, okay. There we have it–car accident. Boom. Crisis. WE HAVE OUR CONFLICT, folks. I was scared for a moment… Perfect lives aren’t very fun to read.

The grief is more than she can handle, so she finds escape at the bottom of a bottle of painkillers.

rusrs1Ohhhh, shoot. Oh, man! Oh, no! DON’T DO IT, EMMY! YOU CAN GET THROUGH THIS EMMY.

…Until Logan King moves to town.

drj1NmKBless you, Logan King. Bless you.

That’s pretty much all of the book blurb that I care to re-hash for y’all. Logan King saves the day. “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles plays softly in the background. Romance, roses, and cuddly unicorns (if that is such a thing?).

I’ve never read anything else by Amanda Burckhard, but I hope this one is good! 🙂

What kind of books are you “waiting” on? Link up in the comments and let’s talk books!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Marsha! And what a cool pick you have for this week’s WoW! Pet noir? I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that before. How unique and interesting! I hope you like it 🙂
That’s one adorable kitten on the cover.
