Top Ten Tuesday is a lovely original feature/weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
This week we’re talking about characters we absolutely adore… those characters that you wish had entire books dedicated to their awesomeness. I don’t really know if I need this in my life–I definitely don’t need more feels to feel if you know what I mean. But, here it goes anyways! There are some spoilers for Mockingjay in here… so, if you haven’t read that book yet… beware.
Also, most of these are men… I swear, I’m not obsessed. I read more female-driven books than male-driven books, so I’m more likely to want to read more about the males in my reading life.
1. Gale (Hunger Games)
Okay, so let’s be real for a second. What the flippin’ flapjack cracker happened to Gale at the end of Mockingjay? Oh, that’s right– nobody freakin’ knows. Peeta this… Peeta that. Peeta my FOOT! Now don’t get me wrong, I ain’t one of those Team Peeta crazies (no offense if you are a Peeta lover), but I would like to know what happened to one half of the love triangle after Peeta ran off with Katniss. I’d just like a book detailing his life after being ditched by Katniss–that jerk.
Also, if you get this gif’s reference, ten points for you! And, if you don’t, check it out here and consider yourself good!
2. Ash (The Iron Fey series)
I can never get enough of the character of Ash… I’d love to know about his life before meeting Megan Chase. Ya know, the basic details about his love life, battles with gobblins, Winter Court quabbles, etc. I’d gobble that stuff up.
Julie Kagawa? You game?
3. Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind)
Man, these are all men. Ugh. I’d like to get into the mind of Rhett Butler–the selfish, arrogant, ridiculous prick that he is. He’s a studmuffin. Always reppin’ this man.
4. Dee (Lux series)
I’d really love to know more about Dee’s life. She’s such a spunky, fun-loving character (most of the time anyways). While I got glimpses of her life through her friendship with Katy, I still want to know her! And, I’d absolutely love to see her POV of the events of all of the Lux books. I think Dee Black and I would be friends in real life, but her positivity would probably rub me the wrong way at times.
5. Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)
Come on ladies, I can’t be the only one that has wanted to know Darcy’s history. What was he like before meeting the beguiling and lovely Elizabeth Bennet? WHERE ARE YOU WHEN I NEED YOU, JANE AUSTEN?!
6. Rooster (The Bible)
So, I know this is on all your minds, so I’m just going to go ahead and speak up. Whatever happened to the rooster that crowed three times and let Peter know that he had messed up royally? I wanna know more about THE ROOSTER! Why doesn’t the Bible talk about the rooster’s life more? Ugh. Come on.

I have read so many Austen spin-off books, many from Darcy’s POV. Even the bad ones are addictive. π

I bet they are addictive! I knew that there are spin-offs, but I haven’t read any yet. π Any good ones you’d recommend?

I hadn’t seen that video before, it’s hilarious! Anyway I really like your top ten. Gale made my list too. And getting to know more about Darcy would be so amazing! He’s such a mystery we almost don’t know anything about him.

Welcome to the HG Bad Lip Reading club! So many pathways have just been opened to you… now you’ll get all those weird references that you’ve never gotten before.
Gale, man. Great minds think alike. We so need to know his point of view on things, ya know?
Apparently, there are some great books out there from Darcy’s POV, so I’ve embarked on a quest to find them. It could take days or years… I’ll let you know if I find anything π

I would probably read about ANYONE’S perspectives from The Hunger Games! But my picks would be Johanna Mason and Finnick Odair…and ohhh President Snow. o.O Like the origins of his pure evilness. I’m happy the book is by Katniss though. *hugs her* She is amazing.
Here’s my TTT!

I TOTALLY agree. I’d love to hear about Johanna Mason and Finnick Odair! I can’t believe I forgot about them. Or Annie… that one would be quite the crazy trip, wouldn’t it? I’d buy it, though! And President Snow! I bet he has such a screwed up history, but I bet I’d gain some sympathy for him through a biography of his life.
Good ideas, Cait! Start the petitions to Suzanne Collins and I’ll jump on board! π

I forgot to put it on my list, but I sooo want a Gale spin-off!!

Wouldn’t it be amazing? I think Suzanne Collins should get on that! Gale would have an interesting POV to throw into the mix I think… β€

Yay! I get points for knowing the gif – That one is the best BLR I think. I’ve actually used the lines “It’s not a real cat” and “I’m the QUEEN” and “Hey, Tuna Flavor” “He’s Codfish Joe” and “Well, whose father’s on crack?” in real life. And the best is after hubby gives me a kiss I can SOMETIMES get out “And that’s how baby’s grow?” with a straight face. I mean, it’s like a youtube version of The Princess Bride, so quotable! Ha.
And I’ve read one Austen spinoff with a Darcy POV that I thought was really good. Wish I could tell you what it was, but it was so long ago, the one I thought it was on my kindle was Mr. Darcy’s Diary. I don’t remember if this is the one I read or whether I just downloaded it when it happened to be free…

YAY! Nice job! π I’ve seen some other BLRs and they just don’t compare–I totally agree. Haha SO quotable. I say “I’m the QUEEN” to my friends, but if they don’t get it, the joke falls flat. I quote YouTube videos all the time–it’s a problem!
Hmmm, I’ll look that one up! I think I’ve begun a long and arduous search on this day… a journey to discover a good Darcy POV. We’ll see if I can ever find a good one! Thanks for the heads up. π

So love Gale! I am rooting for him for Katniss but it doesn’t end like that. tsk

Me too! Ugh, I’m so bummed with the ending. I wish the ending had been wrapped up better.

I feel the same! I don’t like Peeta, both the book and movie Peeta. π
