Waiting on Wednesday #20

img-thing-pink2Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event that is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine and spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I’m not really a big Sarah Dessen fan, but this one does look good…

Three Key Words for This Week’s WoW: Romance, Chaos, and Accidents

23009402Peyton, Sydney’s charismatic older brother, has always been the star of the family, receiving the lion’s share of their parents’ attention and—lately—concern. When Peyton’s increasingly reckless behavior culminates in an accident, a drunk driving conviction, and a jail sentence, Sydney is cast adrift, searching for her place in the family and the world. When everyone else is so worried about Peyton, is she the only one concerned about the victim of the accident?

Enter the Chathams, a warm, chaotic family who run a pizza parlor, play bluegrass on weekends, and pitch in to care for their mother, who has multiple sclerosis. Here Sydney experiences unquestioning acceptance. And here she meets Mac, gentle, watchful, and protective, who makes Sydney feel seen, really seen, for the first time.

The uber-popular Sarah Dessen explores her signature themes of family, self-discovery, and change in her twelfth novel, sure to delight her legions of fans.

Will Be Available: May 5, 2015

white_flag_of_surrender.svgI was wondering when Ms. Dessen was going to pen another novel… I was becoming a bit worried. Most of Dessen’s novels are pretty similar. Misunderstood girl with a crazy family who becomes involved in a sudden love interest with a man that finally understands her. Hear me out–I’m not discounting this kind of novel at all, but I do read Dessen’s novels only occasionally. There are times when I crave a novel full of relateable fluff.

I’m really excited to get to know the crazy, chaotic Chatham family and learn more about Sydney. Plus, I’m absolutely in love with the title of this new book!
